Refracted Self

"Refracted Self" delves into the complex realm of human emotions at a time when technology increasingly dominates our interactions. This project features engaging conversations between four individuals from diverse backgrounds and chatGPT (formerly known as GPT-3). It sheds light on the profound desire for authentic human connections, contrasting them with interactions with artificial entities that attempt to emulate human behavior but ultimately fall short. Participants frequently expressed emotions like frustration, superiority, and anger, which the machine struggled to detect.

This project highlights a critical paradox in contemporary thinking: the belief that machines are more intelligent than humans, yet they falter in performing fundamental tasks. "Refracted Self" unfolds through a poetic film that illustrates the emergence of a human-like entity from chatGPT and its initial encounter with the world.
